It is probable that Private Wilfred Pinney was killed in action during the 2^nd Battle of the Scarpe, including the capture of Guemappe and Gavrelle, which took place on 23^rd � 24^th April 1917.

Wilfred Pinney was the son of Mr H.J. and Mrs E.Pinney, of Dorchester Road, Maiden Newton. Although born in Frampton he was living in Maiden Newton at the time of his enlistment at Dorchester.
